Sometimes I really miss that I wasn't able to participate in the analogue zine or mailing list culture of the 20th century. Things like Spockanalia. But why not try it out now? I have a nice printer, nice paper, envelopes, and stamps!
I don't want to get caught up in making a perfect zine, or trying to round up enough people in a fandom, or things like that. I want to try something simple and see if it's possible to get even one issue out. Or even get the momentum for more...?
The idea: it's a hobby zine. You can submit anything surrounding hobby that you've created. Examples include:
What could anything else be? For example, lately to curb my desires to buy branded doll clothing and furniture, I've found ways to modify used, broken down stuff. Describing that process and taking pictures of the end results would fit the vibes!
You could write a review or deep dive of a game or book you've been into. Give some recs. Talk about your Sims challenge. Just make sure it's something you actually care about! And keep it SFW.
How would it work? I have an email forwarder. Anyone interested could submit what they want to include, how they want to be credited (Anonymous, Name, and/or Email/URL). Include your address so I can send you a copy once I got enough submissions. That's it. There's no guarantee of anything happening, but I would really like it to happen, and just have a fun little no-pressure analogue proof of our creativity.
