Meet the Dolls
For dolls with existing characterization, I tend to be drawn to them due to their design, era, personality, and rough story. However, just like I tend to make AUs for video games I like, these girls are no exception. I take the aspects I like or find interesting, and use that as the basis of my own take on them. Usually I leave the first name as-is, but call them by a nickname. The historical girls also sometimes have modern variants of their stories, though it's not really fleshed out at all.

- Bio and fun facts:
- Born to a large family in Florida.
- Caught polio in 1952, the worst outbreak in history.
- After being released from the hospital, she was sent to live with her grandparents in Georgia for a few reasons:
- They lived near Roosevelt Warm Springs, a rehab center where she ended up living for awhile.
- She was rejected from returning to school in Daytona due to inaccessibility. Her grandparents are both educated and offered to help tutor her.
- Her family home was inaccessible, and with having a toddler and new baby at home, fixing that immediately is not easy.
- Due to the set-up of the house having the bedrooms upstairs, her bedroom was set up to be in the living room (a not-uncommon situation).
- She attends Georgia Society for Crippled Children's schooling and events whenever possible, and later the National Society for Crippled Children in Daytona.
- Has a very strong need to stand-out in ways that are purposeful due to standing out for reasons against her will, middle child syndrome, and being away from her family for so long. This comes off as acting out, often.
- While generally considered a tomboy in both mannerisms and interests, she enjoys fashion and is envious of her older sisters' shopping trips and sewing abilities.
- Is not sure what she wants to do when she's older, no thanks to the lack of disabled and/or female role models in the visible workforce to look up to.
- Thanks to her own struggles with getting schooling, is a strong advocate of desegregation, and is more supportive of foreign classmates than her peers. Develops an interest in reading about foreign lands.
- Has very poor handwriting, but takes a liking to typing with a typewriter.
- After recovering a decent amount, develops an interest in roller skating and baton twirling.
